Privacy Policy
At American
Swedish Historical Museum, we understand your concerns about online security
and privacy. We seek to ensure that your personal and payment information is
secure and your privacy is respected. We hope this policy statement provides
you with answers to the questions you may have about our privacy and security
policies. If you have further questions, please contact us by phone at
215-389-1776 or by email at onlinesales@americanswedish.org.
What information do we collect? In order to provide the services you request, we ask you for certain kinds of
personal information. When you place an order or make a purchase at our store
you provide us with certain personally identifiable information, such as your
name, e-mail address, postal address, phone number, and credit or debit card
number. In addition to this information, we also maintain a record of your
purchases from shop.com.
In addition, for
each visitor to the website, our web server automatically collects the
following non-personally identifiable information: your Internet service
provider's address, the referring URL, and information on the pages you access
on our site.
What do we do with the information we
collect? When we take an
order on the phone or when you make a purchase online or at a store, we use
your information to process your order or purchase, answer questions you may
have, and provide you with periodic e-mails and mailings about our museum,
merchandise, and promotions.
Currently, we
also gather online information about your purchases and shopping activities to
improve the content of our website, enhance your online shopping experience,
and use in future marketing and promotional activities for our website and
company.
Will American Swedish Historical Museum
share my information with third parties? American Swedish Historical Museum does not authorize the
distribution of customer information to any third-party companies. We do
however use third-party service providers to serve ads on our behalf across the
Internet. They may collect anonymous information about your visits to our Web
site, and your interaction with our products and services. They may also use
information about your visits to this and other Web sites to target
advertisements for goods and services. This anonymous information is collected
through the use of a pixel tag, which is industry standard technology used by
most major websites. No personally identifiable information is collected or used
in this process. They do not know the name, phone number, address, email
address, credit card information, or any personally identifying information
about the user.
How do I request to be removed from your
e-mail lists? If you do
not want to receive our e-mails, you may submit your request to unsubscribe by
emailing us directly at onlinesales@americanswedish.org
for online store e-mails or info@americanswedish.org
for general museum emails. In addition, if you have received an e-mail from onlinesales@americanswedish.org, you may also respond with the word
"unsubscribe" in the subject line.
What steps does American Swedish
Historical Museum take to secure information on the website? The shop.com website makes use of Secure
Socket Layer (SSL) technology to encrypt credit card and billing information
while it is transmitted to shop.com. Your computer must be SSL-enabled to
ensure secure transfer of your credit card information. When we transfer and
receive financial and other types of sensitive information, we redirect
visitors to a secure server. Our browser technology is designed to ensure that
no one outside of our professional billing staff will have access to your
credit card information. If you are more comfortable ordering over the phone,
call and ask to speak with a Gift Shop representative at 215-389-1776 Monday to
Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday to Sunday 12 to 4 p.m.
Policy Changes: We may, from time to time, use customer
information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy
notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future, we will
post those policy changes on our web site. If you are at all concerned about
how your information is used, you may periodically check our web site for
updates.
